Sohei and Helene Uchida, founders of TEMI |
Welcome to TEMI, which was created by and for dedicated English teachers who want to make a difference teaching in Japan. Maybe you are one of these teachers.
's philosophy advocates that all students are worthy of our respect. Students are guests in the teacher’s territory, and it is our responsibility to create interesting, fast-paced lessons for them based on the premise that those who experience English remember it. Thus, TEMI teachers are coordinators of English experiences.
Our activities include:
- Teacher-training seminars (group and individualized) for novice and veteran teachers conducted in English or Japanese. TEMI PIONEER Seminars are held four times a year in Fukuoka; package seminars in your city are available upon request.
- Tri-annual publication of our popular bilingual “Teacher’s Helper” Newsletter.
- Teacher-support through our acclaimed teacher training library
's popular bi-monthly bilingual enewsletter filled with teaching tips.- Creation and development of easy-to-use and understand English teaching materials focused on Japanese learners.
- Volunteer English teaching in the pediatric divisions at local hospitals through “The Sunshine Club," which conducts weekly English lessons for hospitalized children, plus an annual Christmas visit from Santa with presents donated from generous sponsors.
It is our sincere hope that TEMI can be a source of support and information for you. Please feel free to look around our home page to see how TEMI can help you and how we can help each other.
We invite you to join our
team, which is a non-profit teacher training organization dedicated to supporting English teachers in Japan and making a difference nationwide.
